Portal Page

Victor Chandler, Websites No Comments

Finally after some time we have managed to release my portal page as an entrance to the site. This is a simple concept with some interesting features.

This idea of this page is that it will be seen by a customer the first time they visit the site, and never again. Messages are simple, and should lead the customer to the product they wanted. This then  places a 30 day cookie that will take them to the last site they were on. In essence removing one click, and taking them directly to the last product they were using.

In addition to all of this we had the problem of knowing what language the person speaks, and where to send them. Most people us GeoTargeting, but what about the customers on holiday, that speak a language other than the main one in that country?  We tried to be a little more intelligent. Instead we link into the browser language. This will then pickup on the English customer living in Spain, as well as the Spanish customer living in Spain.

The overall aim of this site is for customers to be on it for as little time as possible, but for us to predict and help them as much as possible before they are even a customer.
